Reverse engineered prompt

Build me a terminal tool that lets me run different Linux distributions inside containers on my machine, but still feel like I’m using them almost directly on the host.

I want to be able to create a container from a distro I choose, enter it easily, list what I have, stop or remove one, and upgrade it when needed. It should work with common container engines, and it should make the container feel connected to my normal desktop, so my home folder, external drives, USB devices, audio, and graphical apps can be used without a lot of extra setup.

It would be great if I can also export apps from inside the container to the host, run commands back on the host when needed, and generate desktop shortcuts for launching a distro from my applications menu. Please make it simple to use from the command line, with clear help text and sensible defaults, and look up current docs online if you need to.
