Build me a command line tool that counts lines of code in source files, folders, archives, and even git commits.

I want it to scan a project and report, by language, how many blank lines, comment lines, and actual code lines there are, then print a clean summary total at the end. It should handle lots of common programming languages, skip files that should not be counted, and work fast on big repositories.

Please make it feel like a real utility someone could run from the terminal with a simple command, and include a few example cases so I can see it working on a single file, a whole directory, a zip file, and a git history snapshot. If you need to look up current docs or examples online to match how this kind of tool usually behaves, go ahead and do that.
