Build me an Android image compression library that feels like WeChat Moments when you send photos. I want it to take in local image files or Uri inputs, shrink them intelligently, and keep the pictures looking good while making the file size much smaller.

Please make it work nicely with Kotlin first, using coroutines and a simple API for compressing one image or a list of images, and also keep a Java friendly builder style so older Android projects can use it too. It should handle edge cases like huge images, very long screenshots, tiny images, transparent PNGs, and situations where compression would actually make the file bigger, in which case it should just keep the original.

Make it easy to drop into an app through Gradle, target Android API 21 and up, and keep the code clean enough to publish as a reusable library. If you need to look up current Android or image encoding docs online, go ahead.
