FiloSottile/mkcert ? reverse-engineered prompt

Reverse engineered prompt

Build me a simple command line tool that makes locally trusted development certificates with almost no setup.

I want to be able to run one command to install a local certificate authority on my machine, then generate certificates for things like example.com, localhost, 127.0.0.1, and wildcard names. It should work on macOS, Windows, and common Linux setups, and it should also handle Firefox and Chrome trust where possible.

Please make it create the certificate and key files in a sensible place, support a few useful options like custom output paths, ECDSA, PKCS 12, client certs, and generating from a CSR, and make it clear how to trust the root certificate on mobile devices and with Node if needed.

Keep it simple and developer friendly, with good help text and sane defaults. If you need to check current docs or platform details online, go ahead.
