MagicStack/uvloop ? reverse-engineered prompt

Build me a Python package that works as a fast drop in replacement for the normal asyncio event loop.

I want it to let me run async Python code with much better performance, especially for networking and server style workloads, while still feeling like regular asyncio to use. It should expose a simple helper so I can do something like run my main async function with this faster loop, and it should also support the older style of switching the loop when needed.
