Build me a VS Code extension that makes the terminal feel like a flexible workspace instead of just one long row of tabs.

I want to be able to split terminals into a real grid with keyboard shortcuts, move around between panes quickly, and open a searchable picker of my project folders whenever I create a new terminal. It should be easy to set a default command that runs automatically in each new terminal, like Claude, Codex, Aider, or just nothing if I want a normal shell. Please make it remember terminal folders and sessions so things come back after restarting VS Code or a crash.
