Build me EventScout, a product that helps people discover the best hackathons, workshops, and developer conferences without having to hunt across a bunch of sites.

I want a responsive web app where users can browse events, filter by topic, date, location, and format, save events, and get personalized recommendations with a clear “why this was suggested” explanation. It should pull events from multiple public sources, clean up duplicates, rank the best opportunities near the top, and keep everything in sync automatically. Please include user login, profile interests, saved events, and notifications in the app, plus email digests and browser alerts.

I also want a Chrome extension that can save event details from any page into the user’s dashboard with one click. Use the existing backend and database setup in this repo, and if you need current docs or APIs while implementing, look them up online.
