Build me a lightweight PostgreSQL client for Node.js that feels easy to use and doesn’t block the event loop. I want it to connect to Postgres, run queries with placeholders, support connection pooling, and handle common things like notifications, streaming results, and bulk import and export. It should work in plain JavaScript, and if possible have an optional native path for better performance, but both should use the same simple API.

Please include good tests and make sure it works with a real Postgres database using normal environment variables for connection settings. If you need to check current behavior or best practices, look up the latest docs online. I’d also like the code organized so it’s easy to maintain as a small library or monorepo, with clear docs for how to use it and how to contribute.
