carstenbund/gitview ? reverse-engineered prompt

Reverse engineered prompt

Build me a Python command line tool called GitView that looks through a git repository’s history and turns it into a clear story a person can actually read. I want one main command that can analyze a repo, split the history into meaningful phases, and generate markdown, JSON, and timeline outputs. It should work with Claude, OpenAI, Ollama, and a logged in local Claude Code setup, and it should optionally use a GitHub token to pull in pull request and review context.

Also include a compact brief mode for AI agents, a graph mode that stores commit and file history in SQLite, and commands to inspect file history, compare branches, track files, and manage history notes in file headers. Make the defaults sensible, support a no LLM mode for just extracting and organizing history, and keep the whole thing usable from the terminal with helpful help text and install instructions. If you need current API details, look them up online first.
