Build me a simple chatbot demo as a React app that runs nicely in the browser.

I want a clean chat screen where a user can type a message, send it, and see the conversation appear in a chat thread. It should feel polished enough for a demo, with a friendly layout, message bubbles, and a clear input area at the bottom. Please make it responsive so it still looks good on smaller screens.

If it helps, add a basic simulated bot reply so the app feels interactive right away, and keep the code easy to understand so I can swap in a real chatbot API later. Use the existing Vite React setup, keep things lightweight, and make sure it works cleanly with the current project structure.
