Reverse engineered prompt

Build me a Vim and Neovim plugin that checks files in the background while I edit, shows syntax and semantic errors inline, and can also fix files with a command like :ALEFix. It should work in Vim 8.2+ and Neovim 0.7+, feel lightweight, and not depend on Python or JavaScript just to run.

I want it to support a wide range of common linters and language servers, and act like a Language Server Protocol client for things like go to definition, hover, references, symbol search, and completion. It should run asynchronously so the editor never freezes, and it should be configurable per filetype with sensible defaults. If possible, make it easy to turn on automatic fixing when I save, and let users choose which tools run for each language.

Please make it feel polished and well documented, with sensible commands, good help text, and support for both Vim script and Lua where that makes sense. If you need current details from docs, look them up online.
