I want to build a Python script that automates creating those popular Reddit videos for TikTok and YouTube. You know the ones—where a robot voice reads out a thread from a subreddit like AskReddit over some looping gameplay footage in the background.
The tool should grab a post and its top comments, use text-to-speech to narrate them, and combine it all into a final video file. I want to be able to customize the output. The user should be able to provide a specific Reddit URL or just let the script pick a hot post from a subreddit of their choice. It should also let them choose the background video (so it's not always that Minecraft parkour), select some background music, and change the TTS voice.
The program doesn't need to upload the video anywhere. It should just generate an .mp4 file that I can then upload to social media myself. It can be a command-line tool that walks me through setting up my Reddit API credentials the first time I run it.
Are you gonna build this?
