Build me a Go tool that can resize images intelligently instead of just stretching them. I want to give it an input image or a whole folder of images, then set a new width or height, or shrink it by percentage, and have it keep the important parts of the picture looking good. It should support both shrinking and enlarging, horizontal and vertical resizing, and let me make an image square if I want.
Please include a simple command line interface, support piping images in and out through stdin and stdout, and save to common formats like jpg, png, and bmp. I also want face detection so people’s faces do not get mangled, plus optional protective and removal masks for areas to keep or remove. If possible, add a preview window that shows the resize progress and a debug mode that makes the seams visible. It would be great if the tool can process folders recursively and work fast enough on multiple files.
