Build me an Android image loading library and a small sample app that shows how to use it.

I want it to load images from the network, local files, and app resources, show a placeholder while the image is loading, and cache images in memory and storage so the app stays fast. It should be designed to use less memory on older Android devices too, so it does not crash as easily with out of memory errors. Please also support progressive JPEGs, animated GIFs, and WebP images.

Make the library easy to plug into an Android app, and include a simple demo screen with a few images loading in different ways. If you need to check current Android or Gradle docs online, go ahead. I’d also like the code to be clean, well organized, and ready to build from the command line.
