Build me a fast command line code search tool like ag that I can run on a big folder of source code.
I want it to search text and regular expressions across files, skip things that are ignored by git and hg, and let me add my own ignore patterns too. It should feel really quick even on large codebases, print matching lines clearly, and be usable from the terminal like a normal developer tool. If you need to check current build or library details online, go ahead and look them up.
Make it work well on Unix style systems, with a clean build from source, and include basic tests so I can trust it. It would be nice if it also supports common editor workflows, but the main thing is a simple, very fast search utility that behaves like a better ack.
Are you gonna build this?
