github/putty ? reverse-engineered prompt

Please get this PuTTY source tree into a state where I can build and run it from source on both Windows and Unix. I want the normal terminal app for interactive SSH and Telnet sessions, plus the companion command line tools for file transfer, remote shell access, and key generation. On Unix, if the graphical pieces are available, build the GUI terminal too, but if not, make sure the command line utilities still build cleanly.

Use the build setup that already comes with the repo instead of reinventing it, and handle the fact that this is a Git checkout that may need generated makefiles or docs. Please fix whatever small build issues show up, make the build process straightforward, and leave me with clear instructions for how to compile and test on each platform. If you need to, look up current docs online, but keep it faithful to classic PuTTY behavior.
