hyperium/hyper ? reverse-engineered prompt

I want to build a fast, low level HTTP library in Rust that can be used as the foundation for both client and server apps.

It should support HTTP 1 and HTTP 2, work asynchronously, and feel solid and production ready. I’d like a clean public API for sending requests and handling responses, plus a simple server side flow for accepting connections and serving requests. Please include a few working examples and make sure the crate has good tests so the core behavior is reliable.

Keep the implementation focused on performance and correctness, and if you need to check current Rust or HTTP docs online, go ahead. I don’t need a full framework, just a well designed HTTP building block that follows the style of a serious open source library and is easy for other Rust projects to depend on.
