libsdl-org/SDL ? reverse-engineered prompt

Help me get this SDL project building cleanly and make sure I can run a simple demo afterward.

I want the library to compile without errors on my machine, and I want a basic example app that shows it working, like opening a window, handling input, and drawing something simple so I know the build is good. If there are any missing setup steps or dependencies, please figure them out and update whatever files are needed so the project is easy to build from a fresh clone.

If you need to check current build instructions or platform notes online, go ahead and do that. Also make sure the main docs are clear enough that I can follow along without already knowing the project.
