I want you to take this jabberd project and get it building and running cleanly.

It’s an old XMPP instant messaging server, so please inspect the code, figure out what’s missing or broken, and make it compile without me having to dig through everything. If there are obvious setup steps, config files, or build issues, fix them or make them clearer. I’d also like a simple way to run it locally and verify it starts up, even if that’s just a basic smoke test.
