Build me a web app where I can upload PDF files and then chat with them like an AI assistant.

I want the user to be able to add PDFs, have the app read and save what’s inside them, and then ask normal questions about the documents. The answers should come back live as they’re being generated, and when possible the chatbot should show which parts of the uploaded PDFs it used. There should also be a simple chat history so I can see the conversation.

Use a Next.js style frontend with a clean upload area and chat interface. For the backend, use an AI workflow that can ingest documents, search the saved document chunks, and answer using OpenAI. Store the document embeddings in Supabase. It should be configurable with environment variables for the OpenAI key, Supabase details, and the backend URL.

Please make it easy to run locally with separate frontend and backend commands, and include example env files and setup notes. Look up current docs online if you need to.
