I want to build a system that lets you run Linux GUI apps on Windows and makes them feel completely native. It should work on top of the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL 2).
The core goal is to create a totally seamless desktop experience. When a user installs a Linux app like GIMP, VLC, or even a browser inside their WSL distribution, it should automatically appear in the Windows Start Menu. They should be able to launch it from there, pin it to the taskbar, see it in the Alt-Tab switcher, and be able to copy and paste between it and other native Windows apps.
This will need to handle both X11 and Wayland applications, and it should also pipe audio through correctly. Essentially, it should be a bridge that makes Linux GUI apps feel like first-class citizens on the Windows desktop, without the user needing to manually configure an X server or anything complex.
