Build me this FreeArc archiver project so it can be compiled and run from source on my machine.

I want a simple way to get both the console version and the GUI version working, and I’d like the build steps to be as smooth as possible. If anything in the current setup is outdated or missing, please update it enough to make it build cleanly, and point out anything I need to install first.

Please make sure the main archive create and extract flow works, along with the helper tools the project depends on. If there are platform specific steps for Windows and Linux, keep them clear and practical. If you need to look up current docs or versions online to fill in gaps, go ahead and do that.

When you’re done, I want to be able to follow the steps and get a working build without having to guess.
