Build me a QGIS plugin and a small set of command line tools that can read ESRI style files and vector layer files, then convert them into QGIS friendly styles. I want to be able to dump the contents of a .style file, inspect the symbol properties, export symbols into separate binary files, and convert a whole style database into a QGIS XML style file I can import into QGIS.
The plugin should show up in the QGIS Processing Toolbox as a SLYR group, and it should warn me when some properties can’t be translated cleanly, with an option to create a report. It should support the common vector layer symbology cases as well as color ramps and the different color models used in ESRI files.
If you need to check current QGIS or Python docs while implementing, go ahead and look them up online. I mainly want something practical that works well on modern QGIS and makes it easy to move ESRI styling into QGIS.
