Build me a desktop app called SwitchHosts that makes it easy to manage and swap hosts files without editing them by hand.

I want a clean app for Mac, Windows, and Linux where I can create and organize system, local, remote, group, and folder based hosts entries, then turn them on or off quickly from the main window or the tray. It should show hosts with syntax highlighting, let me search and replace across entries, and make it easy to import and export my hosts data, including backups from a URL. I also want remote hosts to refresh manually, on a schedule, and when the app starts.

Please include trash and restore for deleted entries, basic preferences like write mode, proxy, update checks, launch at login, post apply commands, and a local HTTP API. If anything needs current docs or platform details, look them up online and follow the standard approach.
