open-domains/register — reverse-engineered prompt

Build me a simple, friendly service for giving out free subdomains for personal websites, project pages, and open source work. I want people to be able to browse available parent domains, request a subdomain, and manage their DNS records in a clean dashboard without needing to understand the technical details.

Since this project has moved, please include a very clear notice at the top linking to the new site, plus a way for existing users to sign in and migrate from GitHub. If someone does not migrate, their records should stay active but become read only. Also add a visible notice that open comm dot org is shutting down on 2026 07 22.

Keep the domain and DNS setup in editable files so it is easy to review and update, and add basic validation and tests so bad records do not get merged. Include a terms page and make the whole thing feel trustworthy and easy to use. Look up current docs online if you need to.
