openzfs/zfs — reverse-engineered prompt

I want this repo turned into a buildable, installable OpenZFS project for Linux and FreeBSD. It should compile cleanly from source, include the command line tools and the kernel side pieces, and have a simple getting started flow for installing it, loading what is needed, creating a storage pool, and running a basic test so I know it works.

Please make the build and test process clear for the supported long term Linux kernels and the common Ubuntu, Debian, and RHEL style systems this project already targets, plus supported FreeBSD releases. If the repo is missing anything important for a smooth setup, add the smallest sensible scripts or docs so someone can clone it and get going without a lot of guesswork.

I am not looking for new product ideas, I just want this existing OpenZFS codebase to be easy to build, verify, and use from source. You can look up the current OpenZFS docs online if you need to.
