Build me a simple AI assistant for company PDFs that can answer questions in plain English using only the documents I give it.

I want to be able to upload or ingest PDF files, search them smartly, and ask things like how refunds work or what a policy says. The app should return a clear answer and show which page the answer came from, and if it cannot find the answer in the documents, it should say that honestly instead of guessing.

Make it work with a small web API and a basic interface, with the document processing separated from the question answering part. Use my OpenAI and Pinecone keys from a .env file, and make it easy to run locally. If you need current setup details, look up the latest docs online.
