I want to build this book project locally so I can generate the latest PDF and check that all the examples and figures still work.

Please look through the repo and make it easy to run from a fresh clone, then build the book cleanly on my machine. If anything is missing or broken, fix it so the full book can be produced without me having to guess steps. I’d also like a simple way to rebuild after changes, and if there are any obvious errors in the source files, code examples, figure generation, or layout, please correct those too.

Keep the result focused on the existing scientific visualization book, with the same style and outputs as the current project. If you need to check current build instructions online or compare with modern docs, go ahead and do that.
