Build me a clean GitHub Awesome list for people who want to learn 8 bit retro game development.

I want it to feel useful for beginners and hobbyists, not like a random dump of links. Organize it with a table of contents and clear sections for home consoles, home computers, arcade games, hardware, development tools, BASIC programming, books, and community resources. Include systems like Atari 2600, NES, ColecoVision, Vectrex, Sega Master System, Commodore 64, Apple II, MSX, and similar classic machines.

For each resource, add the link and a short plain English note about what it helps with, like programming guides, emulators, graphics tools, compilers, music tools, hardware docs, tutorials, or homebrew communities. Please also add a simple contributing guide so other people can suggest new links later.

Keep it as a polished README style project that would make sense as a public GitHub repo. Look up current docs online if you need to.
