Build me a Chrome extension that lets me clip a web page or just a highlighted section and save it as clean Markdown with YAML frontmatter.

I want it to grab the main article text, title, author, source URL, date, and word count, then turn messy pages into something tidy I can use in Obsidian or any note app that accepts Markdown. It should have a small popup, a keyboard shortcut so I can clip fast without opening anything, and a dark mode that follows my system theme.

If possible, make it privacy friendly and keep everything local in the browser, with no tracking or external servers. Also set it up so the code is easy to extend later for other destinations like Notion or Google Docs. If you need to, look up current docs online while building it.
