wting/autojump ? reverse-engineered prompt

Reverse engineered prompt

Build me a command line tool that makes it much faster to jump around my folders.

I want it to learn from the directories I visit most often, keep a simple history or score for them, and let me type a short search term like j foo to jump to the best matching folder instead of typing long paths. It should also support a mode that prefers child folders when there are multiple matches, and a mode that opens the folder in my file manager instead of changing directories.

Please make it work nicely from the shell, with an easy install script and uninstall script, help text, and a small set of tests. It should run on both older and newer Python versions if possible, and be usable from common shells like bash and zsh. If you need to check any current shell integration details, look them up online.
