Hey, I'd like you to build me an AI-powered search engine, kind of like an open-source version of Perplexity. The main idea is that a user can ask a complex question, and the app will act like a research agent to find the answer. It should break the query down, search live web sources, and then synthesize a clear, well-written response.
A critical feature is that every claim in the answer must have an inline citation linking back to the original source, so you can verify the information. It needs to have different search modes for different kinds of searches — a general web search, one for academic papers, one for social media posts on sites like Reddit or X, and maybe even modes for YouTube videos or stock market data. The UI should be modern and minimalistic. I'm thinking Next.js with Tailwind would be a good stack. It should also be flexible enough to let me plug in my own API keys for various LLMs from places like OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic.
Are you gonna build this?
